Today I’m sharing a happy card for the PPC#225 challenge using the bright spring colors in the Fruit Stand DSP. I had another card I was going to share with you today, but my PPC #225 entry was due today so here it is. Stop back by tomorrow to see the other challenge card I made with more Fruit Stand DSP.
This is my first version but as I was looking at the picture, the strawberries faded into the white. I didn’t notice it as much just looking at the card (that’s why it’s always good to take a picture of something, many times you see things you miss with the actual card!).
I went back and cut a thin strip of the Wild Wasabi paper and laid it next to the strawberry paper and it really make it stand out so much better! Which one do you like better?
The card base is Whisper White. I used Watermelon Wonder cut at 5-1/4″ x 4″ as the background for the Fruit Stand stripe cut at 5-1/8″ x 3-7/8″. It frames the stripe paper really nicely. The Wild Wasabi center is 4-1/2″ x 2-1/2″, the strawberry piece is 4-3/8″ x 1-7/8″ over Whisper White piece the same size. As I said, at the last minute I added the extra Wild Wasabi piece, cut at just slightly less than 1/4″. I stamped the greeting and then used the new Stitched Shapes oval framelit to cut it out. I added another piece of Watermelon Wonder cut with the Layering Ovals framelits. I added loops of a retired sheer ribbon behind the tag and popped it up on dimensional.
Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to come back tomorrow to see my other “Fruit Stand” card.
Here’s what I used to make this card:

I do like the 2nd card better – the added strip of Wild Wasabi cardstock does make a difference – even though it’s just a small change! I love how you ‘tamed’ these bright patterns, which otherwise could be overpowering. Great job! Thanks for joining our Paper Craft Crew challenge. ~Deborah

Thanks, I did like the Wild Wasabi addition. And I played with it for quite a while because the patterns are quite bright and were competing. Glad you like it, thanks!

Thanks Kimberly…I’m going to try to enter as often as possible! It took me quite a few different trials to make all the bright patterns meld into the template for this creation!

Both cards are great, though the added Wasabi strip is a great idea. It provides more contrast to the sentiment. I love the dsp’s you’ve combined. Thanks so much for joining us this week at the Paper Craft Crew. Carolyn xx
