Whale of a Time with curvy waves

November 6, 2020 Leave a Comment

With creative curves and wonderful waves, the Quite Curvy Stamp Set and coordinating Curvy Dies add texture and dimension to any paper project! And combined with my Whale of a Time DSP, I made these two great “underwater” cards!

On my first card I used the curvy “bubbles” die. NOTE: be sure to look carefully at the back of the dies. Some of the die edges have a ridge – that ridge cuts the paper! First pass through my BigShot, I laid it out wrong and my “bubbles” were cut off my piece of DSP (I should have taken a boo-boo picture, but forgot)!

So I flipped the die with the ridge on the bottom and recut it. I heat embossed the “Hello” greeting, then added the Misty Moonlight ribbon tied in a know. I added some Pearl basic jewels to the background (hard to see, but they are there). As I was looking at my finished card, I thought the string of the Pearl basic jewels would look great (they cover the die-cut holes – LOL, could have saved my boo-boo cut!).

As I looked at the card again, it didn’t look quite right, so I took off the ribbon:

Hmm…now it looked a little bare, so back with the ribbon, but moved it higher to the edge of the DSP and moved the knot over a little to balance the greeting. Which version do you like the best, #1, #2 or #3?

My 2nd card was created with much less drama. It came out like I expected on the first try – always glad when that happens. I used the die that looks like fountain sprays, with the seahorses and underwater DSP from Whale of a Time DSP. I stamped my greeting on Whisper White, matching the die curve. I cut the bottom of the banner with the bubble die, and fussy cut the top edge to match the curves. I added two die-cut “underwater” plant stems in Pretty Peacock and Shaded Spruce for under my banner. With a few Pearl basic jewels for my bling, I was finished.

Here’s what I used to make these cards.
