I decided it was time to switch over to create a few Valentine’s Day cards before I continue on with birthday cards. The FMS271 sketch was perfect this Valentines Day card using the Falling in Love DSP. I looked through the papers and decided to use the hearts. I laid out my card, but somehow it just didn’t work like I thought it would. So back to my crafting table for some creative thinking and decided it needed a vellum overlay to mute the design. And it worked!
My center panel is a little thinner than the FMS271 sketch, but I wanted more of the less dense hearts to show to balance the denser hearts on the bottom. I stamped the greeting and kisses with the Sealed with Love stamp set. The kisses were stamped three times without reinking to get the look. I added Wink of Stella clear pen to the lips for extra dazzle, but it is hard to see in the photo. After I was all done, I smudged the upper corner of the greeting banner. Oh well, at least the receiver will know it was handmade! This card could also be used for a birthday card (can’t get them off my mind!), an anniversary card, or even a wedding card.
Dimensions for this card:
- Very Vanilla card base cut 5-1/2″ x 8-1/4″, folded in half
- Blushing Bride cut 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″
- Falling in Love heart paper cut 3-3/4″ x 5″
- Vellum overlay also cut 3-3/4″ x 5″
- Blushing Bride 1-7/8″ x 3-7/8″
- Very Vanilla 1-3/8″ x 3-7/8″
- Blushing Bride ink for the greeting and
- Flirty Flamingo ink for the lips-kisses.
When I looked at the dimensions, I realized they were unusual sizes. Don’t let is scare you off though, it’s easy to cut them using the Stampin’ trimmer with it’s size markings.

What a lovely card! I love how the hearts look through the vellum, so pretty. Smudges are just opportunities to embellish 😉 A couple of pearls or rhinestones or a few small hearts punched from the heart border punch and nobody will every know!

Thanks Deepa. I did think about covering it, but decided to leave it so they know it’s really handmade by me! LOL
