We are having such wonderful cool weather for Texas that it makes me think of the upcoming holidays. These three cards made with the Poinsettia Petals stamp set make great holiday cards. When creating a holiday Christmas card, consider the time you have to make it, how many cards you need, and the supplies you have on hand or want to get. If you’re making multiples, choose the simpler design that you can easily reproduce. But if you’re looking for that one of a kind card for someone special, choose the in-between or more elaborate one. Or, you can always create all three, just for fun!
A simple, quick card for the beginner or when you need lots of cards
To begin creating this easy reproducible card, cut a 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Cinnamon Cider card stock and fold it in half. Stamp the sprig images on the card front in Cinnamon Cider ink. Stamp the flower in Real Red ink and the leaves in Shaded Spruce ink on Whisper White Cardstock. To create depth, stamp off the Two-Step Stamping flower and leaf dimensional images. TIP: for stamping multiple cards quickly, use your Stamparatus!
Once you have all your pieces stamp, head over to your die cutting machine to cut the stamped images with Poinsettia dies from the Poinsettia Place suite. Adhere the pieces to the card front. Stamp your sentiment in Cinnamon Cider ink on a Whisper White Cardstock label, adhere the label to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals, and you have a fabulously festive card in just minutes! Of course, you want to add some bling with either the Champagne or Red rhinestone basic jewels.
When you have more time and for the Avid crafter
If you like to color, then this is your card version! Stamp your poinsettia and greenery leaves, but this time brighten them by coloring with Cinnamon Cider, Poppy Parade, Real Red, and Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Blends. Die cut them like above. Step up this second card by adhering a piece of the Poinsettia Place DSP cut at an angle to the front. Stamp several of the berry clusters below the DSP. Add a piece of Vanilla open-weave ribbon from the Forever Greenery trim combo pack. Fold the ribbon in half lengthwise before cutting the notches on each end. Add a sprig cut from Copper Foil Sheets using the Poinsettia Dies. Arrange your die cut poinsettia and leaves on the top. Stamp your greeting tag just as you did with the first card and adhere to the front.
If you need a special card and for the over-the-top Avid crafter
This fancier version adds more details with additional flowers, leaves and gold foil sprig layers. Take your artistry to an entirely new level by creating more light and dark contrast and expanding the color palette with Mint Macaron and Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends to color the flower and leaves. Before adding the piece of DSP on the top of this card, dry emboss the front with the Tasteful Textile 3D folder. After you emboss it, lightly sponge the ridges with either white or Crumbcake ink. Or use another piece of the Poinsettia DSP on the bottom – the pinecone design would work nicely. Stamp and then cut the greeting label using the Tasteful Labels Dies. Be sure to add your bling in the middle of the poinsettia with either the Champagne rhinestone basic jewels or one of the Beaded Petals in this suite! Gorgeous!
