Yesterday I shared my card I made using the “Deck the Halls” stamp from the new Carols of Christmas stamp set. Today I’m sharing the card I made using the other large stamp, “Peace on Earth.” This greeting seems an appropriate one for the past month of natural (and manmade) disasters that have happened around the U.S. and the world.
I used non-traditional colors of Night of Navy with Whisper White and Garden Green. I die cut the top moon and stars then added the Whisper White “snow” that I embossed with the Softly Falling TIEF. Unfortunately I die cut the “Lots of Labels” center after adding my white snow and lost most of the “dots.” Note to self (again!!) – remember to always emboss and cut each piece before adding to a card!
Once I had the center label hole cut, I laid the navy piece on top of the white card base to stamp the greeting in the middle using Night of Navy ink. I re stamped the “on” on a scrap piece of paper in Garden Green and fussy cut it out to add with dimensionals. I die cut the trees and randomly tapped my Craft Whisper White stamp pad onto them to add the snow effect. Once it dried (craft ink takes a while!), I added highlights with my clear Wink of Stella pen. It smeared the snow look more and gave it some sparkles, which of course, do not show up in this picture.
I added the three die cut deer from one of the Card Front Builder thinlits dies. I tried adding red noses with my Stampin’ Write marker, but the color kept fading. So I punched small (well not so small for the deer – LOL) Real Red glimmer dots to add a touch of whimsy to such a serene, solemn card. So I now have three “Rudolph, the Red Nose Reindeers” to guide everyone. I’m still working on my inside design, so can’t show you anything today. I hope you enjoy my card today and that many will experience some “Peace on Earth” today.
Here’s what I used to make this card:
Don’t miss the paper sale still going on through October 31!
