But I do have quite a few still left to share with you from my 2017 February Paper Pumpkin Many Happy Birthdays kit. When I first got the kit, I loved the colors but wasn’t sure how I would use the slider cards. I need birthday and thank you cards, but didn’t need party invitations (all my kids are grown, and my grandkids are too “big” for that kind of thing – think social media for teens! LOL). So I looked at what others were doing and was inspired to create the little note cards, see them here, the first week I got my kit. That’s unusual for me to get alternative created the same week, but I thought I’d give it a try!
Then I set the kit aside and went on to my usual card creations for classes and birthdays until last weekend. I pulled this kit out again and decided to finish using the entire kit to make a variety of cards. One card example I particularly liked was one with a birthday present from Kritina Rees. But you know I had to add a background color to frame it, this time in Whisper White embossed with the Festive folder. I’m so disappointed it’s retiring as of May 31, and on sale. It’s such a fun design! Be sure to get this one soon, you’ll use it a lot on your cards.. The Calypso Coral thick twine I tied around the package is also retiring!
My next card uses the same template of several of the cards from Monday’s post, see here. The Large dots embossing folder I used on the background is retiring. I made all of these cards before the retiring list came out last Monday afternoon. Sigh, some of my favorites are going away. BUT, oh so many new and wonderful things are replacing them! I can’t wait to share some of them with you in May. Anyway, back to this card. The white “It’s a Party!” tag is from the kit, I just cut it down. Then I used the “birthday” stamp to stamp in twice, once in Pool Party and then Calypso Coral, for the double exposure look, a new trend.
My last card is probably my favorite of all of them for this kit. A number of people saw a bus from the slider card – oh, wait, I did too!! What a cute and very creative idea! Remember, when you are looking at something to look outside the box, or look outside the card directions and see what you see. I used the “Sunny days ahead” from my retired Project Life “Memories in the Making” stamp sets. I thought it really fit the bus idea. I was thinking vacation, going away, but a dear friend said – What a great retirement card! Oh, now I have more ideas since several friends are retiring soon!! I added a sun (you know “sunny days ahead” – LOL) and a road. I also added suitcases in the back window, I need to straighten them a little with the next card. This was such a fun card to plan and make!
So I have a few pieces left in my kit and I’ll use them to reproduce some of the alternatives I shared with you this week. I hope I’ve inspired you to create some of your own Paper Pumpkin kit alternatives! Stop back by tomorrow for another Paper Pumpkin kit’s alternatives, this time from last June’s Banner Surprise kit.
