I was up bright and early last Friday morning which is very unusual for me on my days off! But I spent Thursday dealing with possible medical issues with my dad and I was ready for Connie Stewart’s SGGW weekend template challenge as a diversion of creativity.
This past weekend’s template was a little more challenging for me. I decided I wanted to use my Marquee Messages stamp set (which I’ve had for a while, but not used) to create a birthday card. So I stamped the marquee onto 4 different bright colors (Crushed Curry, Marina Mist, Real Red and Old Olive), then cut each of the pieces apart. I decided the Marina Mist would be my card base, with the Old Olive as the center base.
It took me a while to come up with the final card. I traded the marquee pieces in and out until I had a combination I liked.
Initially the card base was blank, but it looked unfinished. So I used the Lucky Stars embossing folder to add texture to the background. It ended up matching the Crushed Curry stars I popped up on dimensional on the front! I love my bright colors!
Once I finished this card, I decided to try another one to stretch my creativity. Tune in tomorrow for my first fall card of the season using this template!
Here’s the supplies I used:

Dang grants getting in the way of crafting! But they provide a salary, so they are an “evil” must!! LOL
