It was a whirlwind week for us. My dear hubby and I tend to spend a lot of time at home immersed in our hobbies. His is reading research articles for the two journals he manages…yes, that’s a hobby for him since he loves it! Mine is paper crafting, of course! It’s been a while since we’ve seen quite a few of our friends, so we invited one couple over for dinner on Wednesday evening to catch up (and talk about retirement). Then, as I mentioned last Friday, my middle sister, my niece and my sister’s childhood friend came to visit us this weekend to celebrate their 61st birthday (my sister and her childhood friend, not my niece – LOL). We went to museums, played games, drank champagne for the celebration and ate lots of wonderful food that my dear hubby prepared. He’s a wonderful cook, his only other hobby. Then Saturday night we had some other friends over for dinner that we haven’t seen in a while (except when we run into them at the grocery store on Saturday mornings). WOW…we did more entertaining in the last 5 days than we’ve done in the last 3-4 months!
Needless to say, my crafting time was a little abbreviated this weekend. I finally got to my craft room on Sunday afternoon. I pulled out the new Carols of Christmas stamp set and the Card Front Builder thinlits dies (BTW-they come as a bundle and you save 10%!) to create two cards that have been rolling around in my head for about a week. I started with the “Deck the Halls” stamp and was going to some of my Quilted Christmas DSP on the outside. After many different layouts, playing around, cutting and recutting, I ended up with a traditional Real Red, Garden Green and Whisper White card on the outside without any DSP.
Inside, I did cut a strip of the Garden Green Christmas trees from the Quilted Christmas DSP as an accent. I haven’t decided which of my Christmas greetings I will add to the inside yet. Once I was pleased with this layout and look, it was really quick and easy to put together. This will be one of the cards in my upcoming Christmas Card class.
Here’s what I used to make this card:
Thanks for stopping by. Tomorrow, I show you the second card I made using the other large stamp from this set, “Peace on Earth” in non-traditional Christmas colors. And don’t forget the Stampin’ Up! DSP sale to make this card!

Your card turned out gorgeous Janice! Sometimes the best cards come about using cardstock and ink 🙂 I love that bundle, the font style of the sentiments is really bold and gorgeous.

This will be a fun one to make in my upcoming Stamp a Stack Holiday cards event. Thanks Deepa, wish you were still here to participate with us!
